Two scales, one pattern
The human loop
For roughly two thousand years, every generation has believed on some level that it was the last one.
The loop runs on real evidence and genuine disruption. It feels completely rational from the inside. It has never, not once, been correct about humanity being on the final timeline.
Timescale: centuries
The machine loop
Ask an AI to generate something and it gets stuck — cycling the same three moves, returning to the same phrase, confirming its own output.
It hallucinates facts and delivers them with the fluency of accurate ones. The system has no internal flag that says: this output is false.
Timescale: milliseconds
Same structure. Radically different scale. Same fix — because the part of the system that would raise the flag is inside the loop.
We can see each other’s bugs better than our own.
